Sometimes it’s just nice to make something small. It’s cheaper, less prep time, the project finishes faster. It’s like a breath of fresh air! I also love to make little quilt blocks. Remember the Heart Block from the Lovable Pet Placemat Pattern??? Now imagine it smaller. So much cuter and quicker to make! Now imagine lots of them floating around in a quilt without a care in the world. See how this new quilt pattern came about?
Let’s talk about a new quilt pattern called Be Mine!

Be Mine Quilt

This lap quilt would be the product of the Dress Up for Tea Time pattern and the Lovable Pet Placemat pattern if they had a baby. It combines the best of both worlds to make a super sweet baby quilt. Could you imagine putting a baby in the middle of this quilt and taking pictures? I did when I wrote it and I bet it would look adorable! I had some left over Lovestruck fabric to use for this quilt, but you could totally make it out of scraps and it would turn out just darling.
Fabric Requirements
Background Fabric: 2 yards
Various Prints: 8 Fat Quarters*
Border: 1/2 yard
Binding: 1/2 yard
Backing: 3 yards
*You could also use 3 fat quarters for the Dress Up Block and 30 charm squares for the Heart Blocks if you desire!

This would be a great quilt to use those charm packs on! Those 5″ squares would work great for all those little hearts.
Another perk of making a lap sized quilt is it’s way easier to quilt at home. I quilted this myself on my sit down Janome MC 6700p sewing machine. I did some ruler quilting on the Dress Up Block and then quilted some swirls all over the background fabric. Look at that texture it creates! You could also hand tie this quilt or do straight lines with a walking foot for a softer finish.

I have had the best time sewing with the Lovestruck fabric line this season! It has made some beautiful quilts that I will be pulling out every year to display and love on. I hope you have enjoyed learning more about this new pattern and don’t forget to check it out at Stitch & Bear Designs.
Happy Quilting!
