I can’t believe Sewcialites 2 is already over! The time just flew by and I had the best time! Even though I am only showing you my blocks from weeks 8-13, I’ve actually already finished all the blocks and have even sewn the whole quilt top together. I have been a busy bee! So let’s jump right into it and show you some of these beautiful blocks.
Week 8: Interwoven Block
This block had all the colors and I even added some directional fabrics to add to the fun! Meaning I had to pay attention to what I was doing if I wanted everything to match up. It’s great practice and becomes less intimidating the more I do it.

Week 9: New Plus Old Block
You’ll notice I added more background fabric to this block than what it called for in the pattern. I didn’t want it to stand out too much from all the other blocks I’ve sewn, so adding more background fabric helps lighten it up. I also took the opportunity to use one of my favorite fabrics in this collection since the flowers would stand out beautifully in this block.

Week 10: Flourish Block
This block turned out to be my absolute favorite in the entire quilt! I really love the fabric/color choices I made here and will be using this block as an example of how I want my finishing look to be. This is about the point where I started ordering more fabric for the finishing pattern.

Week 11: Nurture Block
I feel like I was on a roll during this time of sewing because my fabric/color choices were on point! I loved the way this block turned out. It has this light-hearted, loving feel when I look at it. It inspires me to use more low volume fabrics in future quilts. I think quilts with this tone would turn out absolutely stunning!

Week 12: Captivate Block
It was also around this time that I started gaining a system for doing more than one block at a time. I had fallen behind by several weeks and had a lot of catching up to do. So I decided to iron and cut multiple blocks. You can see I had a system for keeping it all organized!

This next block was super easy to put together! I love a good block that only involves squares. There is something so satisfying about sewing squares together and forgetting about the half square triangles and flying geese. It’s like a little vacation in a block!

Week 13: Innovate Block
Has a block ever made you nervous? Well this one did for me! Looking at it initially I thought I might have to do something crazy to achieve this look, but it was actually way more simple than I thought! I know how to do half square triangles and the stitch-and-flip method. So this became totally doable! I just took my time and made sure to pin any area that required points to match up. Look how pretty it is!

Like I said, I have plenty more to show you and am busy sewing away these days. I hope you enjoyed seeing all these beautiful blocks and are taking advantage of the sunny weather out there! Let me know in the comments below which block is your favorite!
