Boy, have I been busy with sew alongs! This last week I spent some time playing catch up on my blocks since life’s been so busy. Have you heard Fat Quarter Shop released an update about Sewcialites starting later this month? I’m so excited! And don’t forget about the Home for the Holidays sew along by Sherri and Chelsi that will also be starting soon. I better get organized! While we wait for those to start, let me show you what I have done so far.
Christmastime Week 4
We are wrapping up the Christmastime sew along now that the last block has been released. I think it’s my favorite block of the whole quilt! Who doesn’t like presents during Christmas? Once again I decided to change up my fabrics a little by choosing a darker background fabric and making the top present a little lighter.

I find it is easier to keep track of all the different sized pieces by laying them out on a design board or wool pressing mat before I start sewing. It’s nice to get a general idea of what the block should look like that way.

Once you have all the pieces cut up and laid out, start piecing together the bow first. It turns out so cut! Nothing new here since we have been doing the stitch and flip method this whole sew along!

I was able to make this block a little faster by chain stitching my pieces. You’ll see here how much pinning I did all at once so I could sew, sew, sew my little heart out!

The rest of this block went together super quick and suddenly I had three beautiful presents ready to be placed under the Christmas tree! I have to admit the Christmas Stitched fabrics really make this block pop.

All that’s left now is to wait for next week where they will release the finishing instructions for this adorable wall hanging. Here are my blocks together so far!

Check back next week to see how I decide to finish this quilt top. I hope you have enjoyed the sew along and decided to join in on the fun. It’s not too late to start! Happy sewing!
