I am a sucker for sew alongs! There is just something about sewing together as a community that is really exciting to me. I love seeing everyone’s own variation of the same blocks, the different colors paired together, and as an added bonus, sew alongs are a great learning experience!
Sew alongs have taught me many new skills, like piecing half rectangle triangles, using templates, applique, how to make bias tape, the list goes on!
So let’s get into the upcoming sew alongs I plan on doing and maybe you’ll be interested in doing one as well.
Christmastime by Fat Quarter Shop
This quilt along has been a little delayed, but I hear an official start date has been announced for September 13th! As soon as I saw a sneak peak picture of this mystery quilt along, I knew I just had to buy the kit. The fabric collection they chose is called Christmas Stitched by Fig Tree and I just love it! I can’t wait to get my kit in the mail and start following along on the weekly pattern releases. This should turn out to be a super cute wall hanging!

Oh, Happy Day! by Corey Yoder
When I first saw Corey Yoder’s new fabric collection called Buttercup & Slate, I knew I wanted to sew something with that fabric, but I just didn’t know what. It’s such a bright and happy collection and I really love all the different shades of yellows she has put into it. Just perfect. So of course I am going to participate in her Oh, Happy Day! sampler sew along! The Oh, Happy Day! book will be needed, it will be a 12 week sew along, and so far the start date is planned for September 24th. I can’t wait to get started! Time to order some fabric!

Home for the Holidays by Sherri McConnell & Chelsi Stratton
As soon as I heard Sherri and Chelsi were doing a sew along with their new book, Home for the Holidays, I immediately ordered the book and started thinking about fabric. Their sampler quilts they showed on YouTube are absolutely adorable and look so much fun to sew! Fabric requirements are out now and I hear their start date will be sometime in October. They sewed their sampler quilts with their new collection called Emma, but I’m thinking I might use Peppermint Bark by BasicGrey for a real Christmas feel!

Sewcialites by Fat Quarter Shop
So far, not too much has been said on this quilt along other than plan for a start date in October. In the meantime, I need to figure out which fabric collection I want to use and decide which block size I want to make. I’m thinking maybe I’ll do the 6″ block this year and possibly use Country Rose by Lella Boutique.
Wow, I’m going to be very busy with all these sew alongs! Keep an eye out for future posts to see my progress. Which sew alongs are you planning on doing? I’m sure there are many more that I’ve missed, but I can’t do them all! Let me know in the comments below!
